 2027: Mark’s ADC Plots Atiku’s Candidacy – Kachikwu

A political twist may be unfolding ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Dumebi Kachikwu, a former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that associates of former Senate President David Mark within the ADC are secretly working to present former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

Kachikwu made this claim while addressing journalists in Abuja, accusing a faction within the ADC of attempting to hijack the party's structure to advance Atiku's presidential ambition under the guise of internal reforms.

According to him, “There is an ongoing plot led by those loyal to David Mark to hand over the ADC platform to Atiku for 2027. This has nothing to do with the party’s interest but is driven by selfish political calculations.”

He further warned that such moves threaten the credibility and independence of the ADC, calling on genuine party members to resist what he described as an “external imposition.”

As of the time of this report, neither David Mark nor Atiku Abubakar has publicly responded to the allegation.
