The National Identity Management Commission {NIMC} extortion and unofficial charges have reportedly reduced by 40 percent.
Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director General of NIMC, issues the statement in an event, on Friday in Lagos.
Coker-Odusote, attributed the drop is to aim transparency in fee structure at the commission.
The National Identification Number registration remained free nationwide as enrolment reached 122 million in June from 120 million in May 2025 Coker-Odusote said.
In another remark Coker-Odusote stated that the commission has put in place standard fees for various services for the Date of Birth Modification and others.
“Enrolment for the National Identification Number remains free. And we have standardized modification and authentication fees, and these are publicly disclosed, she added
“Our enforcement of a transparent fee structure has resulted in a 40 percent drop in extortion and unofficial charges.
