Super Falcons beats Zambia 5-0 to book WAFCON semi-final spot
The Nigeria’s Super Falcons have rolled into the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after trashing Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-final clash on Friday.
The opening goal came with a header in the 2nd minute header from Osinachi Ohale
The Super Falcons with a record of nine-time champions later doubled the lead as Esther Okoronkwo slotted home a shot after a cross from Rasheedat Ajibade
Nigeria made it three after Chinwendu Ihezuo's long ball from Chiamaka Nnadozie found the striker, and she did the rest with a composed finish.
The second half brought more misery for the Zambians as Nigeria maintained possession and stretched the play.
After the break, Esther Okoronkwo delivered a free kick, with Tosin Demehin meeting it with a towering header.
Folashade Ijamilusi sealed the tie with a tap-in from a Rasheedat Ajibade cross, her first goal for the Super Falcons.
The win sends Nigeria into the last four of the competition.
The Falcons continue their quest for a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
