The 2026 Grammy nominees have been announced, unveiling a star-studded list of artists, albums, and songs set to vie for top honours at the 68th annual awards.
The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will recognise music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
This edition also introduces two new GRAMMY categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover.
Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations with an impressive nine nods.
Lady Gaga trails with seven nominations, making her the most-nominated female artist of 2026 and securing her fifth Album of the Year nod for MAYHEM.
Sabrina Carpenter earns her second straight Album of the Year nomination with Man’s Best Friend.
The Best New Artist category highlights rising talents such as KATSEYE and Olivia Dean, alongside Addison Rae, Leon Thomas, Sombr, and several others.
Burna Boy Shines
African artists made a strong impact across the Global and African music categories, with nine acts from the continent—including five Nigerians—earning nominations.
Burna Boy leads the pack with two nods: Best African Music Performance for “Love” and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness, making him the most-nominated African artist in the 2025 cycle.
Other Nigerian stars recognized include Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid, alongside continental icons such as Angélique Kidjo (Benin), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Tyla (South Africa), and Youssou N’Dour (Senegal).
Nigeria’s dominance is particularly evident in the Best African Music Performance category, with nominations for Burna Boy’s “Love”, Davido featuring Omah Lay on “With You”, and Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid on “Gimme Dat”. Other nominees include Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo with “Hope & Love” (featuring Mehran Matin) and South Africa’s Tyla with “PUSH 2 START”.
In the Best Global Music Album category, Burna Boy faces competition from Senegalese legend Youssou N’Dour (Eclairer le Monde – Light the World), Benin’s Angélique Kidjo (Jerusalema in the performance category), and India’s Anoushka Shankar (Chapter III: We Return to Light).
