The Lagos State Government has issued a notice of temporary traffic diversions in selected parts of the state ahead of the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race slated for Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
According to the Lagos State Sports Commission, the 60-kilometre race will kick off at Dolphin Loop and follow a route through Osborne Road, Ring Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and the MMIA Underbridge (U-turn), before returning to Dolphin Estate for the finish.
In a statement on Friday, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, advised motorists coming from Ikeja toward Victoria Island to take Ikorodu Road via Funsho Williams Avenue and connect through Eko Bridge.
“For travellers from Mowe or the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, use the Ojota Slip Road to access Ikorodu Road, then proceed via Funsho Williams Avenue to Eko Bridge,” Osiyemi added.
He noted that the Third Mainland Bridge will remain open during the race, but movement will be tightly regulated to ensure the safety of cyclists and other road users.
“All adjoining roads will be opened intermittently as cyclists move through the route,” he said.
Osiyemi further assured residents that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, in partnership with the Nigeria Police, will be deployed to manage traffic flow and maintain order throughout the event.
He emphasized that no road will be fully closed, and vehicular access will be allowed at controlled intervals.
The Commissioner urged motorists to plan ahead, utilize designated alternative routes, and remain patient during the brief diversions, explaining that the measures are intended to guarantee a safe and seamless experience for participants and the public.
