 Several Hospitalized Following Building Collapse in Lagos {VIDEO}

Multiple individuals have been hospitalized following the collapse of a building early Thursday morning along Adeniji Adele Road in the Isale Eko area of Lagos Island.

The incident prompted a rapid response from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Nigerian Police Force, and other emergency agencies.

According to an update posted on LASTMA’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, several victims trapped beneath the rubble were successfully rescued and transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

“There is a report of an overnight collapsed building along Adeniji Adele Road at Isale Eko. LASTMA personnel, emergency responders, and the Nigerian Police are on site. Traffic flow along the corridor remains unaffected as our officers are managing the situation. Rescued victims have been taken to the hospital for treatment,” the agency stated.

While the total number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, emergency crews remain at the site, continuing search and rescue efforts.

To ensure minimal disruption, LASTMA has rerouted traffic in the affected area.

“Our officials have diverted traffic from Zenith back through the Oba’s Palace to Enu Owa for onward movement to various destinations,” the statement added.

Although the exact cause of the collapse is still being investigated, structural deficiencies and aging buildings continue to pose significant challenges across many areas of Lagos.

The collapsed building has been sealed off, with emergency personnel continuing operations at the site at the time of this report.
