UAE Imposes New Visa Restrictions on Nigerians, Suspends Transit Visas
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced new visa restrictions for Nigerian travelers, including a suspension of all transit visa applications, according to a report by Daily Trust.
The latest directives, issued by Dubai immigration authorities on Tuesday, July 8, were communicated to travel agents across Nigeria.
This development comes just a year after both countries resolved a two-year visa ban previously imposed on Nigerian nationals.
Under the new rules, Nigerians aged 18 to 45 travelling alone are no longer eligible to apply for a tourist visa. Additionally, applicants aged 45 and above must now provide a personal bank statement showing a minimum closing balance of $10,000 (or its naira equivalent) for each of the past six months.
The directive also reiterated that all other required documents — including hotel bookings and passport data pages — must still be submitted alongside the updated financial documentation.
Travel agents have been advised to strictly adhere to the new requirements when processing visa applications for Nigerian citizens.
