In a strategic effort to combat child hunger, increase school enrollment, and reduce the number of out-of-school children, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially inaugurated the Zamfara State Pilot School Feeding Programme.
A statement from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, released on Friday, confirmed the launch, crediting the initiative to the coordination efforts of Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding.
“This programme is more than just feeding children—it’s about restoring dignity, expanding access to education, and fighting poverty,” Governor Lawal said. “We are proud to partner with visionary leaders like Dr. Yetunde Adeniji to fulfill our shared commitment.”
The initiative is backed by key development partners, including the World Bank, UNICEF, the International Center for Economic Development, and the FINPACT Development Foundation.
Dr. Adeniji, who has identified out-of-school children across 14 local government areas in Zamfara, emphasized that the pilot intervention is designed to create lasting change in the state's education sector.
“Together, we are ensuring that no child is left behind—nourishing both minds and bodies, one plate at a time. This is what real impact looks like. This is Renewed Hope in Action,” she stated.
