Comes 2027 ADC-Elected President Will Uphold Accountability – Salihu Lukman

Former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has stated that the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is committed to ensuring accountability in governance if the party wins the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Lukman criticized the APC, describing it as "damaged" and even worse than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Lukman, who once served as the APC's National Vice Chairman (North-West), said the ADC has learned valuable lessons from the APC’s failures and intends to chart a different course.

He explained that the ADC is being positioned as a coalition-driven platform focused on delivering good governance and holding leaders accountable.

“We must engage our leaders. One common mistake is assuming that, left alone, leaders will always act rationally and do the right thing,” Lukman said.

“Our goal in forming this coalition is to structure it in such a way that if we produce the President and form the government, everyone in office will be accountable to the party. The party, in turn, will guide them to fulfill electoral promises based on the party’s manifesto.”
