Afrobeats superstar Davido has shared how the heartbreaking loss of his 3-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, in 2022 profoundly changed his perspective on life.
Ifeanyi tragically drowned in a swimming pool at Davido’s Banana Island residence in Lagos in October 2022, a loss that shocked fans worldwide.
In a recent interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, Davido explained that the tragedy prompted him to step back from the spotlight and reflect, giving him a renewed focus both personally and professionally.
“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back on my career gave me a refocus on how I wanted to move forward. It changed my life,” he shared.
Davido also spoke about how he and his wife, Chioma, drew strength from one another to heal—a journey that has inspired many.
“I know how many people randomly come up to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them during tough times. I was telling my wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we have twins—they are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the loss of our son and bounce back in a major way is huge,” he said.
