"I Vomited Blood for Six Months" – 9ice Opens Up About Alleged Spiritual Attack

Nigerian music star Alexander Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has shared a harrowing personal experience, revealing he once battled what he described as a spiritual attack that nearly claimed his life.

During a recent interview on The Nancy Isime Show, the Gongo Aso singer disclosed that he suffered unexplained illness in 2010, during which he vomited blood continuously for six months.

“It wasn’t a medical condition,” he said. “I had to leave my house. I was vomiting blood for about six months.”

The singer said the ordeal ended only after he was introduced to an Ifa priest, marking his first encounter with traditional African spirituality. Reflecting on the experience, 9ice expressed regret for not embracing traditional religion earlier in life.

When asked by Isime whether he had faced spiritual battles during his music career, he responded, “Several times.”

Pressed to share the most intense experience, he cited the six-month period of vomiting blood, describing it as the most frightening episode of his life.

On his current beliefs, 9ice said: “I’m not a Christian or a Muslim. I’m a Babalawo. I’m an African. I’m a traditionalist. My first experience with Ifa came when someone referred me during that illness. I just wish I had discovered Ifa sooner.”

He also referenced Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, who was often ridiculed for his devotion to the Yoruba deity Ogun. “Now I understand why he did what he did,” 9ice said.

In closing, he encouraged Africans to reconnect with and embrace their traditional religions and cultural roots.
