Several passengers sustained injuries on Thursday morning, October 30, after two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses collided at the Mangoro area along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ikeja.
The crash occurred within the designated BRT lane at Onipetesi. According to an eyewitness, one of the buses swerved abruptly to avoid a commercial vehicle that had illegally entered the restricted lane, resulting in a head-on collision with another BRT bus coming from the opposite direction.
“The driver tried to avoid hitting the commercial bus that suddenly entered the lane,” the eyewitness recounted. “Unfortunately, he ended up colliding with another BRT bus.”
Emergency responders, assisted by bystanders, promptly evacuated the injured passengers and transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident. Meanwhile, traffic officials later arrived at the scene to manage congestion and remove the wrecked vehicles from the roadway.
