BREAKING: Protest Erupts at PDP National Secretariat

A protest broke out on Monday at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, as supporters of the faction loyal to PDP National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mohammed Abdulrahman, stormed the building.

The demonstrators, chanting solidarity songs, demanded that the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Umar Damagum vacate the premises without delay.

Abdulrahman was appointed Acting National Chairman last week amid deepening leadership turmoil within the party, which has also seen the suspension of National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade for one month.

In a separate development, the faction aligned with Anyanwu gathered at another location in Abuja and announced the suspension of the Damagum-led NWC, further escalating the crisis.

The protesters at the secretariat accused Damagum’s leadership of mismanaging party affairs and pledged to reclaim the headquarters on behalf of the Abdulrahman-led faction.

Security personnel have since been deployed to prevent chaos as the rival factions vie for control of the party’s national office.
