Cristiano Ronaldo reveals how his daughters encouraged him to propose to Georgina Rodriguez with £1.5m ring

Cristiano Ronaldo has shared the touching story behind his decision to propose to his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez — a moment inspired by two of his children.

The football icon announced their engagement in August, marking a significant milestone in their nine-year relationship. Georgina, an Argentine-Spanish model, also celebrated the news on Instagram, posting a photo of her dazzling £1.5 million engagement ring with the caption: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”

Speaking with Piers Morgan in part one of their new interview, the 40-year-old forward admitted he hadn’t planned to pop the question that night, describing himself as “not a romantic guy.” But what happened next made the moment feel perfect.

“It was around 1am. My daughters were already asleep,” Ronaldo recalled. “A friend had given me the ring to give to Gio. As I was about to give it to her, my two kids came in and said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to Mum and ask her to marry you.’”

“That’s when I thought, ‘Wow, this is the right moment.’ I always knew I would do it, but I didn’t expect it to be that night.”

He added that he didn’t get down on one knee because he wasn’t prepared, but the moment was still incredibly meaningful. “I made a little speech. It was simple. I’m not very romantic — well, I am, but not the type who brings flowers every week. I’m romantic in my own way.”

Ronaldo concluded by saying he was certain Georgina is “the woman of his life,” and he hopes he “did it well.”
