The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has rejected reports alleging that several of its key figures—including the 2023 governorship candidate, High Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii—have been suspended.
According to PUNCH Online, those listed in the purported suspension include Odii; the deputy governorship candidate, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu; Solomon Onwe; the South-East National Vice Chairman, Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu; the immediate past state legal adviser, Chief Mudi Erhenede; and Mr. Moses Idika, among others.
In a statement on Wednesday, Moses Idika, Director of Media and Publicity for the Anyi Ga Emeya Movement, dismissed the claims as the work of a “faceless individual” impersonating the party’s Publicity Secretary.
He urged the public to disregard the statement, stressing that the Ebonyi PDP currently has no State Working Committee (SWC) and is therefore incapable of taking any official decision.
The statement read in part:
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi State currently has NO STATE WORKING COMMITTEE (SWC), and therefore cannot take any decision on behalf of the party.
“It will be recalled that the kangaroo congress organised by the former Southeast zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa, was nullified by a well-considered judgment in suit no. FHC/AI/CS/183/2024, delivered on Monday, November 11, 2024.
“It is also important to note that the Federal High Court in Abuja, in ruling on suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025 on Friday, October 31, 2025, reaffirmed the nullification of the purported congress and the expulsion of Ali Odefa from the PDP.”
Idika added that the party is working with the National Working Committee (NWC) to set a new date for congresses in compliance with the court’s directive.
“We therefore call on the general public to ignore the alleged suspension of Ebonyi PDP leaders, as the individual behind the claim has no locus standi or any legitimate standing within the party,” the statement concluded.5 November 2025
