Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi says he is confident that the Super Eagles will secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite a shaky start to their qualifying campaign, Eric Chelle’s team managed to reach the playoffs, finishing second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Nigeria will take on the Panthers of Gabon in the playoff semi-final on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.

Speaking to CNN, Iwobi expressed belief in the team’s quality and determination.

“We’ve brought ourselves back from a difficult position,” he said. “We know we have the squad and the talent to compete with any nation in the world.

“With last year’s African Best Player (Ademola Lookman) and the previous year’s winner (Victor Osimhen), it would be disappointing not to qualify. But we’re confident — now we just have to prove it.”
