Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, has expressed strong support for U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as someone who has the potential to “change the world.”
The Portuguese football star made the remark during a candid interview with commentator Piers Morgan, saying: “Donald Trump is one of the guys that can help to change the world.”
Ronaldo’s praise comes as Trump begins his second term in office this year, during which the 79-year-old president has already taken several significant and often controversial international actions.
The comment reportedly followed a question from Morgan about a Portuguese national team jersey Ronaldo had signed and sent to Trump earlier this year, which bore the message: “playing for peace.”
The United States is also set to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, a major undertaking that will see matches held across 16 cities.
