U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has announced that he will soon identify the Nigerian officials he believes are complicit in what he describes as the “genocide” of Christians in the country.
In a video shared across his social media platforms, Cruz addressed the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria and expressed gratitude to former President Donald Trump for designating Nigeria a “country of particular concern” due to the targeted killings of Christians by Boko Haram.
“There is no country on earth where Christians face more persecution than Nigeria,” Cruz said.
In the accompanying caption, he added: “I’ve been pushing legislation to designate Nigeria as a CPC and to impose sanctions on the Nigerian officials responsible.
“Thank you to President Trump for his leadership in imposing the designation and, more broadly, for fighting to stop the murder of Christians in Nigeria.
“Now we must take the next step and hold Nigerian officials accountable. I intend to be very explicit about who they are in the coming days and weeks.”
