Osun PDP refutes report claiming suspension of party meetings

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed a circulating report alleging that it halted all party meetings due to an alleged national crisis.

In a statement released on Saturday in Osogbo and signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Jacob Ayodeji Areola, the PDP described the publication as false and deliberately misleading.

The party accused opposition elements, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), of fabricating and spreading the fake statement across various media platforms.

“The statement, falsely attributed to our State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jacob Ayodeji Areola, is a complete fabrication from the desperate minds of a jittery and rejected opposition in Osun State,” the party said.

It further clarified: “To set the record straight, the Osun State PDP has not suspended any political or organisational activities at any level. Our structures remain intact, active, and fully aligned with the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.”

The Osun PDP urged the public and its supporters to disregard the fake report, describing it as an attempt to sow confusion and mislead the people.

The statement also accused the opposition of resorting to misinformation in an effort to remain politically relevant.

“The Osun PDP remains strong, focused, and united in its mission to continue delivering good governance and sustainable development for the people of Osun State,” it added.

Areola noted that the party’s legal and security teams have begun efforts to track down and prosecute those responsible for the forged publication.

He reassured members that the PDP in Osun remains stable and fully committed to securing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election in 2026.
