Prince William’s friend Ben Duncan dies after ‘100ft fall from hotel roof’

Ben Duncan, a close friend of Prince William and former Big Brother contestant, has d!ed after reportedly falling around 100 feet from the roof of a West London hotel.

Duncan, who met Prince William and Kate Middleton during their time at St Andrews University and was considered part of their “inner circle,” passed away on October 30 at the age of 45. He is believed to have fallen from the rooftop of a seven-storey building in the West End.

Police were called to the Trafalgar St James hotel following reports of a “man on the roof.” Before officers arrived, Duncan is thought to have fallen from the rooftop bar, which is fitted with high plastic safety screens.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
“Officers responded to concerns for a man on the roof of a building in Cockspur Street, Westminster, at 23:02 hours on Thursday, 30 October. The man sadly fell from height. Despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is unexpected but is not being treated as suspicious.”

A London Ambulance Service representative confirmed their teams also attended but were unable to save him:
“We were called at 10:59pm on Thursday, 30 October, to reports of an incident on Spring Gardens. Multiple teams attended, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite all efforts, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

In a 2010 interview before Prince William and Kate married, Duncan spoke about their time together at university, noting he was among the first to notice their growing relationship.
“Because we had Will and Kate in our midst, we had royal protection officers everywhere. We knew they had hit it off and that something was happening, but they were just left alone to get on with it,” he said.
