Iran warns people to evacuate from areas near Israel's important military and security sites

Iran’s military issued a warning to residents of Israel to evacuate from areas close to important Israeli military and scientific sites for their own safety, in a video statement on Iranian state TV Sunday.

Colonel Reza Sayad, spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, made the announcement as a barrage of Iranian projectiles fell on locations throughout Israel.

Sayad warned people in Israel not to live near or travel to “vital, sensitive, and important locations” because the Iranian military has a database of these targets that it is continuing to strike.

He said Iran has already “successfully struck sensitive and important targets, including military and security centers,” in Israel.

Iran’s warning comes after Israel issued a similar warning earlier on Sunday. Israel told Iranians living near weapons production facilities to evacuate, saying being nearby would endanger their lives.

Israel will continue to intensify its operation against Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir said on Sunday, as the two countries exchanged fire for a third day.

“From the moment we launched the campaign, we acted with surprise and deception. In the opening strike, we eliminated the top military command,” he said, “We will continue to intensify our operations and, in doing so, strengthen our security for years to come.”

The operation is intended to diminish the “existential threat” that Iran poses to Israel, Zamir said.

The IDF chief also acknowledged Israel’s casualties and urged civilians to follow the military’s guidelines.

“We knew there would be a price, and it underscores why we acted now, before it became too late,” he said.
