Appeal Court Upholds Aiyedatiwa’s Election as Ondo State Governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday, July 31, affirmed the election of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the duly elected governor of the state.

In a unanimous decision, the three-member panel led by Justice Yargata Nimpar upheld the verdict of the Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had earlier validated Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 16, 2024, governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Agboola Ajayi, ruling that the case lacked merit.

Justice Nimpar, delivering the lead judgment, described the appeal as unsubstantiated and upheld Aiyedatiwa’s electoral victory.
