BREAKING : Dino Melaye Resigns from PDP

Former senator and 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party's failure to address Nigeria’s deep-rooted political challenges.

In a resignation letter dated July 30 and addressed to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Melaye announced his immediate withdrawal from the party and all its associated activities.

“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation,” the letter read in part.

Melaye, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, follows in the footsteps of Atiku, who also recently parted ways with the PDP. Both are members of a coalition group that earlier this month formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its new political platform.

However, neither Melaye nor Atiku has officially registered as card-carrying members of the ADC as of the time of this report.
