The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has launched an enforcement campaign against illegal and indiscriminate parking across the state.
On Monday, July 28, LASPA’s Monitoring and Enforcement Team carried out an operation at the State Secretariat, issuing removal notices to vehicles parked on kerbs, walkways, in double-parking positions, and in areas marked with 'No Parking' signs.
According to a statement from LASPA, it was observed that many of the vehicles improperly parked within the Secretariat premises belonged to private individuals whose offices are located nearby—not to state officials. This practice, the agency noted, places undue strain on the parking facilities within the Secretariat.
The enforcement team gave a 24-hour notice to the vehicle owners in violation, warning that any vehicle not moved within the timeframe would be towed in accordance with the State Parking Regulations.
The crackdown follows a directive from the Lagos State Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, who recently urged LASPA to begin enforcing parking regulations within the State Secretariat in Ikeja and the Old Secretariat area, ahead of broader enforcement across the state.
LASPA is now calling on all Lagos residents to adhere strictly to the State Parking Regulations by adopting responsible parking habits—such as observing posted signage and avoiding obstruction of traffic. The agency emphasized that enforcement activities are already underway.
