There was a dramatic scene in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2025, when a young woman, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was seen rolling in a pool of muddy water with her legs raised.
The incident happened at the Okelerin Junction and quickly attracted a large crowd. Some onlookers speculated that she was a victim of ritualists and claimed her private parts had been removed. However, a woman who checked her confirmed that her body was intact.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had been walking towards the junction when she suddenly dove into a puddle by the roadside.
“She was walking from the GB axis, and just as she got to the junction, she plunged into a crater filled with water and began writhing and drinking the muddy water uncontrollably,” an eyewitness told Ogbomoso Insight.
“People rushed to help, but she lay in the water, swaying erratically, and kept gulping down the dirty water,” the witness, a shop owner nearby, added.
Initially, some thought she was a devotee of the Osun river goddess due to her movements and interaction with the water. Even Osun priestesses later visited the scene but left after confirming she wasn’t one of them. The bizarre display lasted for nearly three hours, drawing an even larger crowd.
Eventually, the woman regained consciousness and was helped to her feet. Her first words were, “What am I doing here? What is happening?”
Relatives of the woman later arrived and escorted her home.
