LiAngelo Ball has filed for divorce from influencer Rashida Nicole, just days after she publicly revealed that she is expecting their child.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the professional basketball player and rapper submitted the divorce petition at a Southern California courthouse on July 3.

Though the exact date of their marriage remains unclear, the couple was spotted leaving the same courthouse in February, dressed in all-white and carrying a large envelope—fueling speculation at the time that they had recently wed.

The filing comes as a shock to fans, as there had been no public signs of trouble in the relationship. On June 26—just a week before the petition—Nicole announced her pregnancy in a social media post. Ball appeared supportive, commenting with a heart emoji and a lock-and-key symbol.

Attempts to reach Ball’s legal representatives for comment have not been successful.

This is not the first time the 25-year-old athlete has been involved in a high-profile split. Earlier this year, Nikki Mudarris—the mother of Ball’s other children—publicly accused him of abandoning their family shortly after the birth of their second child. In a statement, Mudarris said, “We spent 3 1/2 years together, and last week he decided to walk out on his kids and tell me he got someone else pregnant (allegedly) and now is creating a new life with her.”

Despite the recent divorce filing, Ball appeared on a livestream with popular content creator Kai Cenat just a day before the news broke, showing no signs of distress and making no mention of the split.
