An unidentified woman, believed to be in her 20s, was tragically crushed by a truck driver yesterday at the Five Star Bus Stop along the Apapa/Oshodi Expressway in Lagos. The truck driver, Mohammed Abubakar, who works for CIC, a fish distribution company, admitted that he lost control of the vehicle around 4:30 pm while trying to avoid a towing van with the registration number Lagos AKD-77-XV.
According to witnesses who spoke to The Guardian, the woman was unable to escape the accident due to trucks parked in front of nearby warehouses. The truck struck her and dragged her for over 20 meters before coming to a stop. She was presumed dead at the scene, and her bloodied body was covered when The Guardian arrived.
The driver of the towing van reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident. The victim's identity was still unknown at the time this report was filed. The accident caused significant traffic disruption as onlookers gathered and threatened to set the truck on fire.
