A magistrate court in Ikeja has freed Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of assaulting airline staff during an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, after all charges against her were withdrawn.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge on Wednesday following the police’s decision to discontinue the case.
Police prosecutor Olubunmi Adeitan informed the court that the charges were dropped after new facts emerged. Emmanson’s lawyer, Adams Otakpe, did not oppose the withdrawal.
With no objections raised, Magistrate Salami ordered Emmanson’s discharge.
The case stemmed from an incident on Monday, when police at Lagos Airport charged Emmanson over an alleged assault on Ibom Air officials. She was subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre before her release today.
