Indiana Woman, 50, Arrested Over Alleged Plot to Kidnap and Assassinate Trump

A 50-year-old Indiana woman has been arrested after allegedly traveling to Washington, D.C., with plans to kidnap and assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The suspect, identified as Nathalie Rose Jones, was taken into custody on Saturday, August 16, after posting violent threats against Trump on Facebook. Federal investigators say she declared her willingness to “sacrificially” kill him and then made her way to the nation’s capital in an attempt to carry out the plan.

According to court filings, Jones tagged the FBI in her posts and used graphic language to describe her threats. Investigators also uncovered a history of hostile online activity, where she labeled Trump a terrorist, accused his administration of dictatorship, and blamed him for unnecessary deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She is facing federal charges, including threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm on the President of the United States, as well as transmitting threats across state lines.

“This case underscores the seriousness of threats against our nation’s leaders,” said D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro in a statement. “Threatening the life of the President is one of the gravest crimes and will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution. Justice will be served.”

The U.S. Secret Service is leading the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Josh Satter overseeing the prosecution.
