No Politician Can Defeat Tinubu in 2027 — Not Even Jonathan, Says Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has dismissed the possibility of any political figure — including former President Goodluck Jonathan — defeating Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, August 13, Bwala described calls for Jonathan to contest as a scheme to tarnish his post-office reputation.

“Some unscrupulous elements are trying to lure former President Goodluck Jonathan back into politics just to destroy the reputation he has built since leaving office, becoming a respected international figure,” Bwala said.

He argued that southern Nigeria’s political bloc, Jonathan’s home region, is already aligned with Tinubu, citing the support of several governors. He also questioned the motives of northern politicians urging Jonathan to run, reminding that many opposed him during his presidency.

“Those calling on him in the north — were they not the ones who forced him out? What hope does he have that they mean well for him now? I believe President Jonathan is too smart to fall for that,” he stated.

Bwala stressed his confidence that Tinubu would defeat Jonathan or any other challenger.

If President Jonathan decides to run, I speak from facts, not guesswork — there is no politician today with the capacity to unseat President Bola Tinubu,” he declared.

Jonathan has not yet indicated whether he will join the race.
