Boxer Gervonta Davis sued for allegedly choking woman in violent altercation

Boxing star Gervonta Davis is facing fresh legal trouble after a woman filed a lawsuit accusing him of assaulting and threatening her during a violent incident at a Miami strip club earlier this week.

The plaintiff, Courtney Rossel, lodged the suit on Thursday, October 30, in Miami-Dade County. She claims she had been in a private relationship with Davis for about five months, during which he allegedly became increasingly physically and emotionally abusive.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Rossel said Davis’s behavior escalated over time. She alleged that on September 23, the boxer accused her of cheating and sent her a message saying, “I’ll kill you.”

Rossel stated that the most severe incident occurred on Monday while she was working as a VIP cocktail waitress at Tootsies Cabaret. Around 4:15 a.m., Davis allegedly confronted her in a VIP lounge, then grabbed and dragged her through a stairwell, the kitchen, and out a back exit into the parking garage.

There, she claims Davis choked her, pushed and pulled her, and struck her in the back of the head, leaving her “terrified, humiliated, and in pain” in front of staff members.

She further alleged that after the attack, Davis sent her another message saying, “I’m on my way! Yo ya house,” which she perceived as a threat that the violence would continue.

The lawsuit accuses Davis of repeated verbal, physical, and psychological abuse, stating that Rossel now requires medical care, therapy, and daily assistance because she lives in constant fear. She is seeking unspecified damages.

A spokesperson for the Miami Gardens Police Department confirmed to TMZ Sports that Davis has been listed as a suspect in a recently filed police report, though it remains unclear whether formal charges have been issued.

Davis, who has previously faced domestic violence allegations, has not publicly addressed the lawsuit. The 29-year-old fighter is currently scheduled to face Jake Paul in a highly anticipated match in Miami on November 14.
