Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of Pretty Mike’s Nightclub Over Alleged Drug Activities

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of a nightclub linked to popular socialite and entertainer, Pretty Mike, following allegations that the facility was being used to store and distribute illicit drugs.

Justice Musa Kakaki issued the order on Tuesday after considering an ex parte application filed by Buhari Abdulahi, counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The property, situated at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, and operating as Proxy Lagos Night Club, is alleged to have served as a storage and distribution hub for 169 cylinders (384.662kg) of nitrous oxide—commonly known as laughing gas—and 200 grams of cannabis.

According to the NDLEA, the nightclub is owned by Mike Nwalie (Pretty Mike) and Joachim Hillary, who allegedly intended to use the venue as a base for a large-scale drug party.

In the motion dated October 27, 2025, Abdulahi asked the court to grant an interim forfeiture order, describing the nightclub as an “instrumentality of crime” under the NDLEA Act. He also requested the suspension of all commercial and entertainment activities on the premises until investigations are concluded.

An affidavit by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, stated that the agency received credible intelligence in October 2025 about plans for a major drug event at the club. Acting on the information, NDLEA operatives from the Lagos Strategic Command raided the property around midnight on October 26, 2025.

During the raid, officers recovered the nitrous oxide cylinders and cannabis, and arrested more than 200 individuals, including the two respondents. Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed the substances as controlled drugs. The affidavit further alleged that the nightclub had a record of drug-related activities carried out with the knowledge of its owners.

After reviewing the evidence, Justice Kakaki granted the NDLEA’s requests, ordering the interim forfeiture of the nightclub to the Federal Government and suspending all operations at the venue pending the conclusion of investigations.

The matter was adjourned to January 28, 2026, for further hearing.
