President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to eradicate terrorism and strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic relationships across the world.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” Tinubu said on Thursday, moments before the Federal Executive Council began a closed-door session.
Thursday’s meeting, held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, marks the council’s first session since July.
Tinubu’s comments follow recent actions by U.S. President Donald Trump, who listed Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’—a classification the Federal Government has strongly rejected as a distortion of the country’s security realities.
Responding publicly for the first time, the President said his administration is working closely with international partners to enhance security, stability, and economic development.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners,” he said.
Tinubu pointed to the oversubscription of Nigeria’s $2.3bn Eurobond as a demonstration of investor confidence in the nation’s economy.
“The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.
The President further assured citizens that Nigeria remains united in its pursuit of peace and prosperity. He praised cabinet members for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda and stressed the importance of sustained unity and focus in delivering key reforms.
