23-year-old man who kills himself in staff quarters was a lecturer's son and not a student - Nasarawa varsity clarifies

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK has reacted to reports regarding the d3ath of a 23-year-old Sheba Rilakwo Jatau. 
 
 
Sheba was found d3ad in an apparent suicide in the university' senior staff quarters on April 27, 2025. 
 
 
The acting Information and Protocol Officer of NSUK, Jaafar Abdullahi Abubakar, in a statement on Saturday, May 3, said the deceased was not a student but the son of a staff member, Professor Benson Shedrack Jatau.
 
“The Information and Protocol Unit of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has been alerted to reports circulating in some online media outlets regarding the alleged death of a student of the University,” the statement read. 
 
"We wish to categorically state that the individual in question, the late Shebah Rilakwo Jatau, who passed away on Monday, 28th April 2025, was not a student of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He was the son of a staff member of the University, Professor Benson Shedrack Jatau.
 
"The late Shebah Rilakwo Jatau was laid to rest in accordance with Christian rites on Thursday, 1st May 2025.
 
“The University urges members of the general public to kindly disregard any misinformation suggesting otherwise. Thank you.”
