A 200-level student of Babcock University, identified as Olaoluwa Subomi Lawson, has reportedly died by suicide at his father’s residence in Redemption Camp City, Ogun State.

According to security sources who spoke with analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident was formally reported on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, by a relative residing in Festac Town, Lagos.

The family was alerted by the deceased’s mother, Olufunke Lawson, who lives in the United Kingdom. She reportedly informed them that her son had taken his own life by hanging in his room.

Olaoluwa was a student at Babcock University, located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.

The motive behind the tragic incident remains unclear, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
