Arteta Confirms Injury Boost as Gabriel, Calafiori, and Timber Expected to Return for Premier League Opener
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Gabriel Magalhães, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber are all expected to be fit for the start of the new Premier League season.
The three defenders missed Arsenal’s 1-0 pre-season defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, with Gabriel and Timber yet to feature during the club’s Asia tour due to injuries sustained late last season.
Following the match, Arteta was asked whether the trio would be available for Arsenal’s opening league clash against Manchester United on August 17.
“I don’t think so. If they evolve like they’ve been evolving in the last few days, Gabriel Magalhães, Calafiori, and Timber—all three of them—will be available,” Arteta responded.
The update comes as a major boost for the Gunners as they prepare for a high-profile opener to the 2025/26 campaign.
