Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs received a standing ovation from fellow inmates upon returning to prison after being acquitted on three out of five federal charges by a jury.

On Wednesday, July 2, the 55-year-old music icon was cleared of serious charges including sex trafficking and racketeering, which could have resulted in a life sentence if he had been convicted.

In an interview with the Associated Press over the weekend, Diddy's lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, revealed that his client was welcomed back to the facility like a hero. According to Agnifilo, inmates saw the acquittal as a rare and inspiring victory.

“They all said, ‘We never see anyone beat the government,’” Agnifilo shared, noting that Diddy’s legal win resonated strongly within the prison walls.

Despite the acquittals, Combs remains incarcerated at a federal detention center in Brooklyn due to convictions on prostitution-related offenses. These remaining charges could still result in several more years behind bars, though he will receive credit for the roughly 10 months he has already served since his arrest in September 2024.

Following the verdict, Combs applied for bail pending sentencing, but Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request, citing concerns that he and his legal team failed to demonstrate he does not pose a risk to the community.
