EFCC nabs 48 in Abeokuta over suspected internet fraud.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 48 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 11, the agency revealed that operatives from its Ibadan Zonal Directorate carried out the arrests after gathering actionable intelligence and conducting surveillance that linked the suspects to various cybercrime activities.
Items recovered during the operation include a pump-action rifle, five luxury vehicles, a motorcycle, numerous mobile phones, laptop computers, and several documents believed to be incriminating.
The EFCC stated that the suspects will face prosecution once ongoing investigations are concluded.
