NNPC Ltd. Remits N6.96 Trillion to Federation Account in First Five Months of 2025

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced that it remitted a total of N6.96 trillion to the Federation Account between January and May 2025.

This was disclosed in the company’s Monthly Report Summary for June, released on Monday.

Despite a dip in monthly profits, the report shows that NNPC recorded a Profit After Tax (PAT) of N905 billion in June 2025, down from N1.054 trillion in May. The total remittance figure represents a notable rise from the N5.583 trillion reported from January to April, reflecting the company’s continued fiscal contribution amid volatile global oil prices.

The report also highlighted an increase in daily crude oil and condensate production, which rose to 1.68 million barrels per day (bpd) in June—the highest level recorded since January—indicating a gradual recovery in upstream operations. Natural gas output similarly climbed to 7.581 billion standard cubic feet per day (scf/d), up from 7.352 billion scf/d in May.

June revenue stood at N4.571 trillion, a decline from N6.008 trillion in May, attributed to changes in international oil market conditions. Nevertheless, NNPC reported key operational improvements, including enhanced fuel supply performance, with petrol availability at NNPC retail outlets increasing to 71% in June, up from 62% the previous month.

Progress was also made on strategic gas infrastructure. The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) pipeline reached 83% completion, up from 81%, while the OB3 pipeline maintained its 96% completion rate. Upstream pipeline availability slightly declined to 97% in June from 98% in May.

A major technical milestone was achieved with the successful crossing of the River Niger segment of the AKK pipeline, significantly reducing risks to final delivery. A technical review is ongoing for the OB3 River Niger crossing, drawing from the AKK experience.

Meanwhile, turnaround maintenance activities for the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries are still in progress.

On the corporate social responsibility front, NNPC conducted a Financial Literacy Programme in June, reaching over 67,000 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. This brings the total number of beneficiaries trained under the initiative to 870,383.

All data in the report are provisional and subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders. NNPC Ltd. reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic reform agenda and fiscal stability through consistent revenue generation.
