Tinubu Appoints Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as New Controller-General of Federal Fire Service

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, effective August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in a statement signed by its Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.

Olumode’s appointment comes ahead of the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will step down on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

According to the CDCFIB, Olumode brings “a wealth of experience” to the role. He began his career at the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.

The board noted that Olumode has completed all mandatory in-service and command training courses, including specialized programs both within and outside the country.

He is also affiliated with several professional bodies, holding membership or fellowship in organizations such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The CDCFIB expressed gratitude to the outgoing CG, Engr. Jaji, praising his “remarkable contributions” to the development of the service and commending his “dedication, commitment, and numerous initiatives” during his tenure.
