Twin four-year-old boys have tragically died after being trapped in a house fire in Nashville, while their mother watched in horror from outside the burning home.
The devastating blaze broke out in the early hours of Monday, July 28. Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4:30 a.m. at a residence on the 2000 block of Arbor Pointe Way, according to reports from NBC affiliate WSMV-TV and CBS affiliate WTVF.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the mother and one of her three children safely outside. She frantically informed first responders that her twin sons were still inside—trapped on the second floor of the home.
Fire crews immediately entered the burning structure in a desperate attempt to save the children. They located the boys and carried them out of the home, but despite their best efforts, the twins were pronounced dead at the scene. They have since been identified as Lathan and Langston McDaniel.
Family friend Lacey Corbitt, who launched a GoFundMe campaign, described the boys as "micro-preemie survivors" who had faced numerous health challenges but brought immense joy to everyone who knew them.
“They were absolutely the lights of our world,” she wrote. “Words cannot express the grief and despair this whole family—and the village that has supported them—is experiencing.”
The boys leave behind their younger sister, Lexi Rose.
Corbitt’s message on the fundraising page continued:
“We will never be able to get back their beautiful miracle twins, but maybe we can try to help replace all that has been lost.”
As of Thursday, July 31, more than $13,000 has been raised by over 175 donors to support the grieving family as they begin the painful journey of recovery.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
