Ademola Lookman Wipes Atalanta Content from Instagram Amid Transfer Dispute

Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has removed all Atalanta-related content from his Instagram page as tensions rise over a potential transfer. This comes after the Italian club rejected a €42 million bid, plus €3 million in add-ons, from Inter Milan.

Despite Lookman reportedly reaching personal terms with Inter, Atalanta remains firm on their €60 million valuation of the 27-year-old forward.

In what appears to be a response to the stalled negotiations, Lookman has unfollowed Atalanta on Instagram, scrubbed his bio of any reference to the club, deleted posts featuring him in their kit, and changed his profile picture, which previously showed him in Atalanta colours.

Adding to the speculation, Lookman was missing from Atalanta’s squad in their pre-season clash against RB Leipzig in Germany on Saturday, August 2. Reports suggest he is currently recovering from a calf injury and is expected to be out for several weeks.

Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €10.8 million and has since established himself as a key player, scoring 52 goals in 118 appearances. His standout moment came in the 2023/24 Europa League final, where he netted a hat-trick to deliver Atalanta’s first-ever European title.

The Nigerian star is also the reigning CAF African Footballer of the Year, succeeding compatriot Victor Osimhen, who won the award in 2023.
