Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha recently played host to his former Super Eagles coach, Clemens Westerhof, at his residence in Lagos.
Westerhof, who shared photos from the visit on Instagram on Friday, described the evening as an “unforgettable night of my life” and expressed gratitude to Okocha for the warm reception.
The Dutch tactician served as head coach of the Nigerian national team from 1989 to 1994, during which time the Super Eagles won their second Africa Cup of Nations title and made their debut appearance at the FIFA World Cup—topping a group that featured Argentina, Bulgaria, and Greece.
Okocha made his international debut under Westerhof’s management and would go on to become one of the most celebrated players in Nigeria’s football history.
