BREAKING : FG Orders Withdrawal of Charges Against Comfort Emmanson, Eases KWAM 1 Flight Ban

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has directed Ibom Air to withdraw criminal charges filed against Comfort Emmanson.

Keyamo announced that the Police would take immediate steps to ensure Emmanson’s release from Kirikiri Prisons within the week.

In the same directive, the Minister instructed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to reduce the flight ban placed on popular musician KWAM 1 to just one month.

The decision was disclosed in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday. Keyamo said it followed consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation sector, as well as those directly involved in the recent incidents.

According to him, the discussions yielded “valuable lessons” for all parties concerned.

Regarding the suspension of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba of ValueJet, Keyamo said the NCAA would reinstate their licenses after a one-month ban, provided they undergo mandatory professional reappraisal.

“These decisions were taken by the Government and airline operators purely on compassionate grounds,” Keyamo stressed. “Government will never succumb to base sentiments, politically motivated views, or flawed legal opinions when there is a clear violation of our laws.”
