Brennan Warns Secret Service May Have Needed to Sweep Trump’s Limousine After Putin Ride

Former CIA Director John Brennan has raised concerns that Russian President Vladimir Putin could have planted a microchip in the U.S. presidential limousine after sharing a ride with Donald Trump during their recent summit.

Speaking on MSNBC’s The Briefing with Jen Psaki, Brennan criticized Trump’s handling of the meeting and questioned the optics of allowing Putin into “the Beast,” the president’s armored vehicle.

"The fact that he was given a ride then in the presidential limousine — I certainly hope the Secret Service has swept that vehicle very well, in terms of any type of small microchip that might have been put in the vehicle," Brennan said.

Citing Putin’s KGB background, Brennan described the Russian leader as a master manipulator who appeared visibly confident throughout the summit.

"An international pariah, a war criminal, who was basically embraced by the president of the United States on a red carpet in the United States," he said. “You could see on Putin’s face, he felt very, very comfortable.”

Trump welcomed Putin with full honors at a U.S. air base, applauded as he arrived, and rode alongside him before the talks, which were aimed at addressing the war in Ukraine.

Brennan slammed the encounter as “embarrassing, shameful, and very worrisome,” adding that Trump had orchestrated a poorly prepared summit that gave Putin legitimacy while yielding no meaningful results.
