Former Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, has officially retired from professional football at the age of 36.
Ideye made the announcement on his social media handle, marking the end of a career that spanned more than a decade across top leagues around the world. His last club appearance was with Nigeria Premier Football League giants, Enyimba.
“After much thought and consideration, and with mixed emotions, I’ve decided to retire from professional football,” the striker wrote.
He went on to thank God, his family, coaches, teammates, fans, journalists, agents, and the Nigerian national team for their unwavering support throughout his career.
Ideye first rose to prominence as part of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. He later earned 28 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring six goals, and enjoyed successful stints in England, Greece, Turkey, Spain, and France.
