Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has rewarded six Super Falcons players from the state with N10 million each in recognition of their outstanding performance at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The beneficiaries include Chiamaka Nnadozie, Jennifer Echegini, Osinachi Ohale, Oluchi Oluehi, Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Michelle Alozie. Assistant coach Ann Chiejine also received N10 million.
Governor Uzodinma presented the cash rewards during a reception held in their honour at the Government House in Owerri.
The gesture follows Nigeria’s triumphant 3-2 victory over Morocco in the WAFCON 2024 final on Sunday.
In addition to Uzodinma’s gesture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also honoured the team’s players and officials with $100,000 each, a three-bedroom house, and the national award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
