INEC Launches Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, August 18, began its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, starting with an online pre-registration phase.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, described the initiative as a vital step toward boosting citizen participation in upcoming elections.

The CVR exercise will enable registered voters to update their details, transfer their voter records to a different location, or verify the status of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Through the CVR portal, voters can also identify their designated collection centres and locate the nearest registration points.

“Your PVC is your key to making your voice heard in our democratic process. We urge every eligible voter to seize this opportunity to register, update their information, collect their PVCs, and actively participate in shaping their future,” Yakubu said.

He added that the exercise will also accommodate new voter registrations at all designated centres nationwide.
