JAMB Directs Public Universities to Complete 2025 Admissions by October

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed public universities in Nigeria to conclude all 2025 admission processes on or before October 31, 2025.

According to the admission timetable released by the board, private universities are expected to finish admissions by November 30, 2025, while all other tertiary institutions—both public and private—must wrap up their admissions by December 31, 2025.

The directive was announced in JAMB’s weekly bulletin on Monday, August 18, and reflects resolutions from the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the Minister of Education.

JAMB explained that the move is designed to stabilise the academic calendar and guarantee fair access to admission opportunities across all institutions.

“Public universities are to complete admissions by October 31, 2025. Private universities by November 30, 2025. All other institutions, public and private, must complete admissions by December 31, 2025,” the board stated.

The board further urged institutions to conclude admissions early—even if their academic sessions are yet to begin—emphasising that completed admissions should be documented and archived to prevent unnecessary delays.

JAMB also directed institutions conducting post-UTME screenings to ensure they are completed promptly in order to comply with the approved timeline.
