A 38-year-old British man has tragically died following a hair transplant surgery in Turkey.
The man traveled to Istanbul for the procedure, which reportedly took place at a private clinic named CINIK, located in the Besiktas district, according to Turkish news outlet OdaTV.
Shortly after the five-hour operation, he fell seriously ill and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. Despite medical efforts, he passed away soon after.
His body has been transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy before being repatriated to the UK.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the death, with allegations of “reckless homicide” being examined.
A spokesperson for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) stated: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Turkey and remain in contact with local authorities.”
Turkey has become a popular destination for cosmetic tourism, largely due to more affordable prices.
